WELLBEING AND A HAPPY WORKFORCE
MAKES FOR A HEALTHY BUSINESS
Mental ill health brought on by stress, depression and anxiety costs UK employers an estimated £35billion a year through staff absenteeism. That equates to an annual 91 million working days lost to sickness, and yet just a few basic measures to improve the management of mental health in the workplace can recover at least 30 per cent of those business losses. It is just as important to look after workers’ mental health as it is their physical health. Wellbeing is proven to be good for business because a healthy workforce is happier, better engaged and more productive. As part of a strategic approach to wellbeing, our practical Mental Health First Aid skills and awareness training courses are key to creating a safe and healthy workplace environment, giving people the tools to tackle colleagues’ and their own mental health and, where necessary, access appropriate support.
It’s a Fact
Why become a mental health first aider? Anyone at any time can succumb to mental ill health, and yet a stigma often still surrounds it. Our Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training courses teach candidates how to spot, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue. All of our trainers are qualified MHFA England instructors working to strict standards set by the Royal Society for Public Health. Run in a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment our training provides candidates with the skills to listen, reassure and respond – even in a crisis or before a crisis happens.
Training to suit all needs and budgets From basic awareness through to a full MHFA qualification, our range of courses can fit around timescales and budgets, and are designed to benefit employees, line managers, human resources professionals, occupational health workers and senior management. In helping to meet the recommended core standards for a healthy workplace, as set out for all employers in the Government’s Thriving at Work report, MHFA training enables individuals, businesses and organisations to proactively manage wellbeing and minimise the impact of mental ill health on work and life.
